Tuscany Gravel Tour 2023

We have managed to get a few more places, it is first come, first served.

INZAIN invites you to a fantastic gravel experience in Tuscany

October is an ideal time to ride gravel in Tuscany. Warm, but not hot, a little less people & fantastic roads. The tour is set up so that we stay at two different vineyards and have a companion car, our luggage is transported in it when we change hotels and if you, or even a bicycle, need it, you can ride in it, the whole way or maybe a bit if you e.g. ex. want to ride a little shorter. We will also have spare bikes, wheels and tools in case of an accident.

Food and drinks

We are all different and our needs vary, therefore we have created the event so that all breakfast is included, we eat this at the vineyards. During the day, bananas, water, sports drink and energy are available at the places where we meet the escort car. You choose lunch and dinner and pay for it yourself. We will have reservations at restaurants in the evenings, but if you want to eat yourself or somewhere else, that is of course fine. We will similarly select restaurants for lunches, but if you want to eat somewhere else, go ahead.

The follow car

We have a companion car, it meets up to give us water and energy. If something breaks, it picks up the bike and cyclist. It has tools and some spare parts.
It is a security and very practical.

Pictures and film

Pictures and videos from an adventure are fun. We will have a camera on the bike, a drone with the follow-up car and invite all participants to also take pictures. We compile and make these available to everyone.

Strade Bianchi & Eorica

Iconic roads are just the first name. We will both ride bikes. Day three we reach L'eroica and along it comes the first stretch that is usually part of the Strade Bianchi.

Street Bianchi

Gravel and tarmac

The routes mix gravel and asphalt with good food, wine, gelato, climbs, incredible views and coffee. There is not much to miss in Tuscany.

Guids: Carl-Johan and Gerry have done many trips on gravel and asphalt. In Sweden as well as in Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Tuscany, Girona, Kansas, Lanzarote and many other places, in addition to the large amount of gravel rounds organized in Sweden

The week

Book your own flight, there are different ways to solve transfers.

There are several choices that airports, Rome, Pisa, Florence etc.
Transfers can take place by train, bus, taxi, etc. If more people are coming on the same flight, we can help coordinate.

Hotels

We live in two different vineyards, the first is near Siena and the second near Montalcino. We stay up at Siena for four days, where one is an optional rest day. You can e.g. relax by the pool, take an excursion or drink wine, or all at once. We then cycle to the next winery, a truck takes all the luggage, so we can concentrate on having fun. Once there, a few nice days await in the southern part of Tuscany before we get to our flights home.
It's not a race, but there are really tough strava segments for those who want to stretch their legs a little extra. We will take time for lunch, coffee and other things. We are here for the experience.

Rider's Guide

In addition to the great work with the routes themselves, all participants also receive a Riders Guide, it contains all information about routes, places where the car meets, coffee places, climbs, bails, etc. Here you can see last year's guide.

Day 2 Sunday 8 October (55 -115 km, 900-2.2170 hm)

Northwest, on roads there Tuscany Trail goes Many fantastic cities are passed. This is a challenging tour, which can be shortened in several different ways if desired. Some single track but nothing too challenging.

Day 3 Monday 9 October (55- 103 km / 760 – 1,836 hm)

We make our way east, beautiful dirt roads in the classic undulating Tuscan landscape. Many opportunities for Gelato and coffee, and good food of course. Here, too, there are a number of cuts if the legs or desire so require.

Day 4 Tuesday 10 October
Rest day!
If you want to cycle, of course it's great, but it turns out to be quite wise to take a rest day. Maybe we take a trip to the sea, visit Siena or hang out at the vineyard and enjoy the tranquility?

Day 5 Wednesday 11 October (72 km / 1,200 hm)

The world's best transport cycling! Eroica and Strade Bianchi, incredibly nice. While we have a great day in the saddle, all our luggage is transported down to the next vineyard, near Montalcino, in the south of Tuscany. If legs or other things are broken, it's fine to ride in the car. Once there, we settle in, maybe celebrate with a beer and have dinner.

Day 6 Thursday 12 October (57 -96 km / 744 -1860 hm)

The white gravel! We pass many classic resorts, there are many ways to shorten the trip if you want, we use again several stretches from Eroica and Strade Bianchi. Maybe time to set a KOM?

Day 7 Friday 13 October (67 -92 km / 980 – 1750 hm)

We go south. Forest and open fields are mixed. Several of the routes come from Strade Bianchi. Lunch in Buonconvento and home over Montalcino.

Day 8 Saturday 14 October

We will cycle North to Siena and return in an easterly loop. More Eroica and Strade Bianchi and a few surprises await.
This is our last cycling day, in the evening we pack our bikes and enjoy life.
