Long before our time, the island was closer to the equator in tropical waters and from there the limestone foundation, on which Gotland rests, was built up. Through weather, wind and ice age, the island has been given a unique nature that cannot be found anywhere else. In several places along the coast, you can see and feel sea urchins. The Hoburgsgubben on southern Gotland and the "Hunden" at Gamla hamn on F\u00e5r\u00f6 are perhaps the most famous rauks, while the areas of Digerhuvud and Langhammars on F\u00e5r\u00f6 and the nature reserve Folhammar on eastern Gotland offer the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gotland also has long pebble beaches where many people like to walk.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Visby is a conurbation that is the center of Region Gotland and the seat of Gotland County. Visby is also the diocesan city of Visby Diocese. Visby has 23,402 inhabitants The medieval Hanseatic city of Visby is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Scandinavia and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1995.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visby is called "the city of roses and ruins".<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
