Basque food

The Basque Country is best known for its food culture and its tapas-like pintxos. There are also three three-star Michelin restaurants in the country, all in the province we pass through and visit. Many people call San Sebastián the capital of food, and of course we make a stop and spend the night there.

Pintxos

One pintxo är en liten munsbit som serveras i barer eller små tavernor i nordöstra Spanien och främst i Baskien. Pintxos är ett vanligt tilltugg när man ska umgås med vänner eller familj och utgör således en stark social tradition i Baskien och Navarra, lite som fika för oss i Sverige. Som koncept liknar det tapas med den främsta skillnaden att pintxos vanligen är stuckna med tandpetare eller grillspett, ofta till en bit bröd. De serveras i individuella portioner och beställs individuellt och betalas alltid oberoende från drycken.
