About Girona

Situated on a river nine miles north of Barcelona, Girona is a quiet destination with a medieval town centre. Here you get narrow alleys, cozy restaurants and Arabic baths. Don't miss the mighty cathedral, which has the best view in the city.

If you like Game of Thrones, the famous staircase is here, not far from our hotel.

The majestic baroque cathedral of Santa Maria in the middle of the city is ideally suited as a starting point for sightseeing. The cathedral's museum is open from 10.00 to 20.00 and is free to visit on Sundays. Other days the entrance costs 5 euros.

Another architectural attraction is the Gothic church of Sant Feliu with its 18th-century facade. The church's chapel is dedicated to the bishop Saint Narcissus.

Girona does not only bear traces of Roman times. The city has a rich Jewish history that is partly still visible today. Remains have been found of what turned out to be a so-called yeshiva, that is, a Jewish school for the study of Torah scriptures. Among all the city's museums, there is also a Jewish one. Tourists can buy the so-called M5 card which gives access to five museums in Girona. The card is purchased at the first museum you visit and is valid for six months.

Girona is full of nice cafes and restaurants. You cannot miss that it is a cycling city. Lots of cyclists, bikes. Many professional teams train here.
