Vättern Runt på Grus, an absolutely fantastic way to cycle around the lake. Beautiful views, tough slopes and wonderful cycling.
The event premiered in 2023 and was a resounding success. We had decided to limit the number of participants to 20, but we wanted everyone who wanted to have the chance. That is why we are increasing the number this year. It will soon be full so secure your place in time.
There are three variants, VRG , VRG XL and VRG MAX. All options use the same course, but are completed in different number of days.
The course is 45 miles and has 4,500 meters of elevation, with 85% dirt road.
VRG carried out over four days, with support, arranged accommodation and companion car 400 km 4,000 altitude meters
VRG XL carried out over three days, with support, arranged accommodation and companion car, this is the one we drove in 2023 450 km 4,500 altitude meters
VRG MAX is without support, no accompanying car, no booked accommodation, but support is available if something goes wrong. We will then help with transport to Motala. Same trajectory as XL

VRG MAX is completely without support, but a safety car is available if something goes wrong.
VRG and VRG-XL has a companion car that takes luggage between residences, spare parts and tools are in the car. If something goes wrong, bicycles and cyclists can go along.

There are two checks per day, where energy is provided. There are also tools and some spare parts such as chain, tires and more.

VRG-XL and VRG Max all have the same nice route. 450 km with 4,500 altitude meters, VRG is 400 km and 4,000 altitude meters
85% is on gravel and 15% on asphalt, most of it is not technical but there may be lifts and elements of path.

About Vättern
Vättern is a long, narrow and deep lake located in southern Sweden. It is located between Västergötland and Östergötland. Lake Vättern is Sweden's second largest lake and it is Europe's sixth largest lake.
The VätternRundan(tm) is the world's largest Gran Fondo and goes around the lake but on asphalt.
There are many places along our round with magnificent views of Lake Vättern.

Start and finish in Motala. The nearest airport is Linköping. Two hours drive from Stockholm. Three hours from Gothenburg.
VRG and VRG-XL have companion car. All luggage can go there. It also serves as backup and security.
