Grusets Vänner in Siljansnäs

It started with a phone call from Peter Kamnert last fall. -"Hello, I'm in Siljansnäs, shouldn't you come here and cycle?"

During the winter, me and Tommy Bond filed at Utesport on a gravel weekend, talked together about routes and concepts.

Now 29-30 May, it was done.

28 happy Gravelistas gathered in Siljansnäs and had two absolutely fantastic days, with sun, gravel, laughter and fellowship.

On Saturday there was a trip of 14 miles, 1,300 hm with coffee at Bygdegården in Dalafloda, among other things cheese sandwiches with Gustavskorv, and on Sunday a slightly shorter, but tougher trip to Dådran. There Tommy Bond, via his cousin, had arranged a sumptuous coffee with sausages and home-baked bread!

On Saturday we started from Outdoor sports in Siljansnäs and then we glided at fantastic speed up Älgberget, it went quite fast, without taking in so we were blue, we had 25km/h until coffee. The way home was a little more hilly but just as beautiful, those who wanted to cut it a bit short while the rest of us also drove the way up to the slalom hill.
I rode an electric bike for the day, a Specialized Creo SL, and it was pretty cool to be able to deliver 5.5 W/kg, probably won't happen again :).

Hotel Siljansnäs where we stayed is adorably beautiful, newly renovated rooms and very good food, they served us well and even opened up breakfast early so we could be on our way. Kudos.

Sunday started along an old railway embankment and through forest, near lake and beach. The speed became a little more moderate as there were clearly sharper slopes and also some real climbs, but it was just as adorably beautiful.

It was a real punk, the explosive took its toll and a couple got a little sore in their knees and then a bonk, but it's still early in the season.

Now we are charging for the next Grusets Vänner event, June 11-12 in Jönköping where we live at Bauergården and enjoy the gravel around Jönköping. Hang in there. Info can be found in the gravel calendar.
